BNDES aprova R$ 331 milhões para modernizar o terminal portuário de Rio Grande (RS)
Recursos do Fundo da Marinha Mercante serão aplicados em automação, aquisição de equipamentos e dragagem para fortalecer a infraestrutura e preparar o porto para navios de maior porte
O Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) aprovou no final de 2025 um financiamento de R$ 331 milhões destinado à modernização do terminal portuário de Rio Grande, no Rio Grande do Sul. O projeto, que utilizará recursos do Fundo da Marinha Mercante (FMM), tem como foco transformar o Tecon Rio Grande em um terminal mais eficiente, preparado para operar com embarcações de maior porte e consolidar sua posição como um hub logístico no Cone Sul.
Os recursos serão aplicados em iniciativas de automação do cais, obras de dragagem para aprofundar o calado, adequação de equipamentos e aquisição de tecnologia avançada. A carteira de investimentos inclui novos guindastes portêineres (Ship-to-Shore – STS), guindastes de pátio ** Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG)**, tratores elétricos, carretas de movimentação, estações de recarga para equipamentos elétricos, empilhadeiras menores e scanners de inspeção de cargas.
Infraestrutura e papel estratégico
O Tecon Rio Grande é atualmente o único terminal de contêineres dedicado no estado gaúcho, com cerca de 735 mil metros quadrados de área, 900 metros de cais linear divididos em três berços de atracação e um calado de 15 metros, além de capacidade anual para mais de 1,4 milhão de contêineres TEUs. A estrutura já dispõe de diversos guindastes e serviços de armazenagem, importação, exportação e suporte a cargas refrigeradas.
Segundo a Agência BNDES de Notícias, o terminal — operado pela Tecon Rio Grande S/A, subsidiária da Wilson Sons — registrou um crescimento expressivo de movimentação em 2024, com 45% de aumento nos contêineres movimentados e 233% de crescimento no transbordo em comparação com 2023, reflexo da maior demanda regional e integração comercial com países vizinhos.
A modernização pretende reduzir o tempo de permanência dos navios, elevar a eficiência operacional e ajudar a atrair mais investimentos e operações internacionais. A expectativa é que o aprimoramento logístico impulsione não apenas o desenvolvimento econômico do Sul do país, mas também contribua para o fortalecimento das exportações brasileiras, gerando empregos e ampliando a competitividade da cadeia portuária.

O financiamento ao Tecon Rio Grande integra uma estratégia maior do BNDES voltada ao fortalecimento da chamada economia azul, com foco em pesquisa, planejamento marítimo, descarbonização da frota naval e infraestrutura portuária.
